Israeli Colonists Allegedly Attack Olive Harvesters in West Bank

Ramallah:Israeli colonists reportedly assaulted olive harvesters and a solidarity activist in Kafr Malik town and the al-Mughayyir village, northeast of Ramallah.

According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, local sources indicated that the colonists attacked a solidarity activist who was aiding olive pickers in Kafr Malik. Further incidents were reported in al-Mughayyir, where colonists allegedly attacked olive harvesters near the residences of the Jabr family and discharged live ammunition towards Palestinian homes.

Violence by colonists against Palestinians and their properties is described as routine in the West Bank, with such incidents seldom prosecuted by Israeli authorities. The reported forms of violence include the arson of properties and mosques, stone-throwing, destruction of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable households.

There are approximately 1 million Israeli colonists residing in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which is considered a violation of international law.
