Displaced Palestinian Families Protest for Right to Return to Hebron Homes

Hebron:Dozens of Palestinian families, including those forcibly displaced, held a protest on Friday in Hebron, demanding the right to return to their homes in the al-Jaladah and Deir Bahha neighborhoods.

According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, the protest included children, women, and elderly people near the al-Jaladah roundabout, which has been closed by Israeli occupation forces. Protesters called for the lifting of the siege and their return to their homes, rejecting the occupation's policy of forced displacement.

Israeli occupation forces have continued their operations in the Hebron governorate for the eighth consecutive day, enforcing a siege and closure of the al-Jaladah and Deir Bahha neighborhoods. This includes home raids and acts of vandalism. More than 780 families have been affected by the operations, with 537 being completely forcibly displaced. Approximately 5,000 Palestinians are living under siege conditions, either having been forced to leave their homes or while being confined inside them.

Since the beginning of the operations, over 115 Palestinians have been detained, including a girl, with hundreds more being held and subjected to abuse. The military siege has also disrupted education, impacting 66 schools and 2,872 students. Of these students, 2,198 are under direct siege, while 674 have been forcibly displaced and cannot access their classrooms.

The Hebron Chamber of Commerce estimates that the direct economic losses resulting from the ongoing offensive and closures range between 10 million and 12 million shekels per day, with about one million shekels in losses in the dairy sector alone.
