Gaza: Female Palestinian detainees at Israel's Damon prison continue to face ongoing violations by the prison administration, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs reported on Sunday.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the commission revealed in a statement that a lawyer, who recently visited the detainees, provided insights into the dire situation. Detainee Amna Suweilim, 55, from Nablus, who has been incarcerated since November 3, 2025, shared that the detention conditions at Damon prison are extremely harsh and difficult. Suweilim is reportedly suffering from shoulder pain due to a torn tendon, as well as thyroid problems and an abdominal muscle hernia.
The lawyer further relayed the testimony of Leila Khalil, 22, from Beitunia, west of Ramallah, who has been held since June 2, 2026, and is currently in isolation. Khalil described the prison conditions as 'extremely poor,' emphasizing that the quality and quantity of food provided are inadequate. She also mentioned that the daily outdoor break period does not exceed one hour, and that many detainees are unable to shower regularly due to limited time.
