Accra:Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, Permanent Representative of the State of Palestine to the Arab League, announced that the State of Palestine has requested an extraordinary session of the League Council at the level of permanent representatives. The session's purpose is to discuss mechanisms for providing international protection to the Palestinian people and ensuring respect for international law and resolutions regarding Jerusalem's legal status.
According to Palestine news and Information Agency – WAFA, the meeting will focus on possible Arab and international actions in response to increasing attacks by Israeli occupation forces and armed colonists on Palestinians and their property. These attacks are reported to occur with the support of the occupation government and its army.
Al-Aklouk emphasized that these actions are part of a systematic policy aimed at displacing Palestinian communities, expanding colonial settlements, and undermining the two-state solution. The session will also address violations impacting Jerusalem and its international legal status, particularly in light of certain countries' moves to open embassies in the city.
