Jerusalem:Israeli occupation forces have demolished three homes in Beit Hanina, north of occupied Jerusalem. The homes, located in the Al-Ashqariya neighborhood, belonged to the Shawamreh family.
According to Palestine news and Information Agency – WAFA, the demolitions took place today, Sunday. Additionally, on Saturday, occupation authorities compelled a resident, Fadl Al-Rajabi, to self-demolish his home in the same area due to the absence of a building permit.
Occupation authorities often enforce self-demolition among Palestinian residents in occupied Jerusalem, citing permit issues. If residents do not comply, demolition is carried out by occupation bulldozers, leading to significant costs for the owners.
The Jerusalem municipality is accused of refusing to grant building permits to Palestinians while demolishing their homes or forcing self-demolition. This practice is considered a violation of international law and is seen as part of efforts to displace Palestinians from Jerusalem to facilitate settlement expansion.
