Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in his New Year's Eve address that Ukraine is '10 percent' away from reaching an agreement to end the war with Russia, emphasizing that Kyiv will not accept a "weak deal" that could prolong the conflict.
According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy released a video message on Telegram late Wednesday, declaring that a peace agreement is '90 percent ready.' He highlighted that the remaining ten percent is crucial in determining the future of peace, Ukraine, and Europe. Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is seeking an end to the war but will not compromise its integrity for peace at any cost.
Zelenskyy acknowledged the heavy toll of nearly four years of conflict on the Ukrainian people, who, despite their exhaustion, remain determined. He underscored that he would not endorse any agreement that could undermine the nation's sovereignty or lead to further fighting. Zelenskyy stated that only a strong agreement would bear his signature, as weak agreements would only serve to fuel the war.
He concluded by mentioning that all ongoing diplomatic efforts are concentrated on achieving a robust and lasting peace agreement.
