Amman:The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs has condemned the ongoing incursions by extremist colonists into Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif. These actions, including the latest incident on Sunday, are accompanied by provocative practices deemed unacceptable and are seen as a violation of the historical and legal status quo at the holy site.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency , the ministry's spokesperson, Fuad Majali, expressed Jordan's firm rejection and strong condemnation of these incursions. Majali described the actions as a blatant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, aiming to impose new realities at the mosque by attempting to divide it temporally and spatially.
Majali emphasized that Israel does not have sovereignty over occupied Jerusalem or its holy sites. He warned of the consequences of continued provocations and urged the international community to compel Israel to stop these practices and violations against Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
He also called for an end to illegal measures in the occupied West Bank and incitement against Palestinians. Majali reiterated that Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif is exclusively a place of worship for Muslims and that the Jerusalem Awqaf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, part of Jordan's Ministry of Awqaf, has exclusive jurisdiction over the administration of the site.
