Gaza city: An Israeli strike on Tuesday evening claimed the lives of six Palestinians and left several others wounded at the port of Gaza City, according to medical sources. The attack targeted the port area west of the city, resulting in casualties that included a minor and several critically injured individuals.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the fatalities and casualties from the strike were immediately transported to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City. The medical sources also reported that several people present at the site during the attack fell into the port basin, prompting ongoing rescue efforts.
The strike is part of a broader military campaign by Israel against the Gaza Strip, which began on October 7, 2023. This offensive has led to the deaths of 73,399 Palestinians, the majority being women and children, and left 174,310 others injured. The extensive damage inflicted on Gaza has destroyed 90% of its infrastructure, with reconstruction costs estimated at $70 billion.
Since the implementation of a ceasefire agreement on October 11, 2025, Israel has been responsible for the deaths of over 1,265 Palestinians and injuries to 4,198 others. During this period, the bodies of 813 Palestinians have been recovered. In the last 24 hours alone, Gaza hospitals have admitted the bodies of five slain Palestinians and treated 18 casualties.
The ongoing conflict has also resulted in the disappearance of at least 10,000 people, presumed dead beneath the rubble of destroyed homes across the Strip. Additionally, nearly two million people have been forcibly displaced, with most seeking refuge in the densely populated southern city of Rafah near the Egyptian border, marking the largest mass exodus of Palestinians since the 1948 Nakba.
