Qalandiya:Israeli occupation forces shot and injured a Palestinian in the Qalandiya refugee camp, north of Jerusalem, on Monday evening. The incident occurred as snipers were positioned on rooftops and soldiers deployed in the camp's downtown area, dislodging the doors of residents' homes while firing tear gas and stun grenades.
According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, the soldiers fired stun grenades at residents leaving the mosque after the Maghrib prayer, leading to confrontations and injuring one individual with rubber-coated metal bullets.
Additionally, Israeli forces targeted Palestinians attempting to cross the Beit Furik military checkpoint near Nablus, using live ammunition, tear gas canisters, and stun grenades, causing several cases of suffocation. These military measures were enforced hours after the release of 90 Palestinian prisoners, coinciding with the Gaza ceasefire on January 19, 2025.
The Israeli military has tightened restrictions across the West Bank, isolating cities and governorates with military gates, barriers, and concrete blocks. The ongoing Israeli colonist attacks aim to displace Palestinians and build illegal Jewish colonies, further restricting the freedom of movement for 3.4 million Palestinians in the region through a network of 925 checkpoints and barriers.
