Baku:The National and Islamic Forces have emphasized the critical need for a successful national dialogue to achieve unity and bolster the resilience of the Palestinian people. This unity is seen as essential in protecting their land and safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites from continuous Israeli aggression.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the call for unity comes during a period marked by severe conflict, including widespread destruction, killings, and a blockade in the Gaza Strip. The West Bank is also experiencing military checkpoints, detentions, collective punishment, ethnic cleansing, and attacks by colonists.
In a recent meeting, the forces highlighted threats by Israeli officials, such as the defense minister, as part of a broader war against the Palestinian people. These threats include denying Palestinians their legitimate rights, which the forces view as a refusal to abide by international legitimacy resolutions. They urged the international community to impose sanctions and a boycott on the Israeli occupation, holding it accountable for its escalating crimes.
The National and Islamic Forces praised global support for the Palestinian struggle, noting that many countries and peoples reject ongoing aggression and have imposed sanctions on colonists and their products. They reiterated that the increasing aggression demands a comprehensive boycott.
The forces also drew attention to the treatment of Palestinian prisoners, citing ongoing abuses like killing, isolation, starvation, and medical neglect as attempts to weaken their resolve. They called on international human rights organizations, particularly the International Committee of the Red Cross, to hold the occupation accountable and protect prisoners.
Furthermore, the forces stressed the importance of conducting legislative and presidential elections, initially planned for September, and ensuring the successful election of the Palestinian National Council. They blamed the occupation's aggression for preventing these elections from occurring in November.
They concluded by emphasizing the need for genuine international pressure to stop the occupation's aggressive policies, which is crucial for facilitating the elections at any future date.
