Jerusalem:Israeli forces banned Palestinian residents of Beit Anan, located northwest of Jerusalem, from harvesting olives on Thursday. The forces prevented residents from accessing their land in the al-Khunaidiq area, hindering their ability to gather olives from their own properties.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission has documented 19 incidents of attacks by colonists on October 9, targeting olive harvesters and farmers. These attacks included setting a vehicle on fire, uprooting over 50 olive trees in Qusra, south of Nablus, assaulting harvesters in several West Bank villages, and shooting a farmer in the Salfit Governorate.
The commission further reported that in August 2026, attacks by Israeli forces and colonists affected agricultural crops, damaging 21,508 trees, including 19,375 olive trees. These assaults on the agricultural sector significantly threaten Palestinian farmers' livelihoods, as restrictions and violence obstruct their access to land and ability to harvest, leading to severe economic losses.
