Israeli Colonists Attack Palestinian Olive Harvesters Near Ramallah

Ramallah:Israeli colonists attacked Palestinian olive harvesters and the activists supporting them on Saturday morning in the town of Deir Jarir, northeast of Ramallah.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the colonists, protected by Israeli forces, targeted farmers in the al-Hara'iq area east of the town, using live ammunition in an attempt to intimidate them and disrupt the olive harvest. The settlers forced the farmers to vacate their land, and video evidence captured colonists throwing stones at a farmer's vehicle.

On the previous day, three Palestinians suffered injuries during a colonist attack on residents heading to their agricultural land for olive harvesting. The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission documented 34 incidents of colonist attacks on farmers, their land, and crops between Friday morning and evening.

The commission detailed that 15 incidents occurred in Ramallah and al-Bireh Governorate, 13 in Nablus, and two each in Salfit and Jenin, with additional incidents in Tulkarm and Hebron. These attacks involved physical assaults on olive harvesters, forcing them off their land, detaining and arresting them, stealing crops and equipment, and setting fire to vehicles and trees.

Particularly widespread attacks in Ramallah and al-Bireh Governorate were noted in Turmus Ayya, Abu Falah, Burqa, Deir Jarir, Abwein, the area around Birzeit, and Barham, as well as in al-Taybeh, Rammoun, and Kafr Ni'ma, amid increasing assaults on farmers during the olive harvest season.
