Gaza: Israeli colonists on Monday fenced off Palestinian-owned land in the Jabal al-Qarn area of al-Minya town, south of Bethlehem, according to a local source.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Ahmed Qawazbeh, head of the al-Minya Village Council, reported that colonists continued to fence off land near a recently-established colonial outpost in the area. This action has raised concerns among local residents and officials, who fear that the move is a precursor to cultivating the land and eventually taking it over.
Qawazbeh has called upon landowners and relevant legal authorities to take the necessary legal measures to safeguard the land and protect the rights of the landowners. The situation underscores ongoing tensions in the area, as Palestinian residents face increasing pressures from colonist activities.
The Jabal al-Qarn area in al-Minya town has been the site of multiple incidents involving colonist attacks. These have targeted Palestinian homes, farms, and essential resources such as water and electricity. On August 13, colonists reportedly attacked the home and farm of the al-Jabareen family, resulting in the theft of approximately 100 sheep and a vehicle. The attackers also caused damage to solar power equipment and severed a water pipeline, exacerbating the challenges faced by the local Palestinian community.
