Nablus: Israeli colonists on Monday ploughed Palestinian-owned land in Aqraba and Khirbet Yanun, south of the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, according to a local source. Salah Bani Jaber, Aqraba mayor, reported that the colonists, supported by occupying forces, tilled dozens of donums of farmland belonging to the farmers of Aqaraba in the Mahfuriya plain and Yanun, indicating a prelude to taking it over.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the violence by colonists against Palestinians and their property is a common occurrence in the West Bank and often goes unprosecuted by Israeli authorities. The acts of violence include property and mosque arsons, stone-throwing, uprooting of crops and olive trees, and attacks on vulnerable homes.
The report states that approximately 1 million Israeli colonists reside in colonies in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which is considered a violation of international law. The situation in these regions remains tense as the actions of the colonists continue to exacerbate the conflict.
