UN Secretary-General Meets with Committee on Palestinian Rights

New York:United Nations The Bureau of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People met with United Nations Secretary-General Ant³nio Guterres to discuss ongoing support for Palestinian rights.

According to Palestine news and Information Agency, the meeting involved praise from Cheikh Niang, Chair of the Committee and Permanent Representative of Senegal to the United Nations, for the Secretary-General's strong stance in defending Palestinian rights. Niang expressed gratitude for Guterres's support in fulfilling the Committee's mandate as per the General Assembly resolution.

Riyad Mansour, Permanent Observer of the State of Palestine to the United Nations, conveyed appreciation from the Palestinian people and leadership for Guterres's defense of Palestinian rights. Mansour also relayed President Mahmoud Abbas's gratitude for Guterres's leadership within the United Nations, especially concerning the Palestinian issue.

Guterres, in turn, thanked the Committee for its efforts and emphasized the importance of protecting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). He called for necessary political and financial support for UNRWA to continue its mandate until the Palestinian question is fully resolved in line with international law and UN resolutions.
