Gaza City: The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Adequate Housing, Balakrishnan Rajagopal, has stated that it is possible to rebuild the Gaza Strip without displacing its Palestinian population.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Rajagopal noted in a press statement on Saturday that approximately 70% of Gaza’s buildings had been destroyed due to Israeli military actions. Despite this extensive damage, he emphasized that about 70% of the region could be reconstructed within a timeframe of 5 to 10 years.
Rajagopal also mentioned the estimated cost for the reconstruction, projecting it to be around $60 billion.
