UN Officials Call for Immediate, Permanent Ceasefire in Gaza


Davos: The Director-General of the International Organization for Migration, Amy Pope, stressed the need for a sustainable ceasefire in Gaza so that the international community can deliver the necessary humanitarian aid to the population.



According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, this statement was made during a press interview on the sidelines of Pope’s participation in the 55th annual meetings of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where she discussed the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.



Pope called for ensuring the strong support of the international community for the ceasefire and defending its implementation and continuation, emphasizing that without a ceasefire, aid delivery to Gaza would be impossible.



She highlighted the importance of achieving a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, noting that humanitarian needs in the region have reached “astronomical levels.”
