UAE Intercepts Missile and Drone Attacks from Iran

Abu dhabi: The United Arab Emirates announced that its air defenses successfully intercepted six ballistic missiles and nine drones launched from Iran on Friday. In a statement released by the Defense Ministry, it was revealed that these attacks are part of continued hostilities in the region.

According to Anadolu Agency, since the onset of Iranian attacks, the UAE's air defense systems have intercepted a significant number of aerial threats, including 378 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,835 drones. The ongoing conflict has resulted in the loss of lives, including two armed forces personnel and a civilian contractor. Additionally, eight civilians of different nationalities have been reported dead.

The statement further detailed that 171 individuals have suffered injuries, with the severity of wounds ranging from minor to severe. The casualties include both Emirati and foreign nationals. The ministry emphasized its commitment to remain vigilant and ready to counter any future threats to ensure the nation's security and stability.

The current escalation in the region has been marked by increased tensions following a joint offensive by the US and Israel on Iran on February 28. This offensive has resulted in over 1,340 fatalities, including the death of Iran's then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In retaliation, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes against Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US military assets. These strikes have caused significant casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
