Tulkarem Governor Urges Support for Displaced Families as Occupation’s Onslaught Enters 16th Day

Tulkarem: The Governor of Tulkarem, Abdullah Kmeil, has issued an urgent appeal on behalf of local institutions and communities to halt the ongoing Israeli aggression and provide support to those forcibly displaced from their homes in the Tulkarem and Nur Shams refugee camps. This call for aid comes as the Israeli occupation’s onslaught enters its sixteenth consecutive day.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Kmeil underscored the severe conditions in both refugee camps, where up to 85% of the population has been displaced, including vulnerable individuals such as the elderly, the disabled, women, and children. These displaced families have been forced to flee their homes in freezing conditions, with no access to basic necessities.

Kmeil further highlighted the dire situation, stressing that while residents of surrounding villages and towns have extended their support to the forcibly displaced, they lack the resources to ensure a dignified life, as their needs far exceed what is available, especially given the numerous raids that have targeted the camps and the city of Tulkarem since 2023, which have resulted in the killing of 219 Palestinian citizens, including the recent killing of an eight-month pregnant woman and her unborn child.

The governor also pointed to the systematic destruction of infrastructure, which has severely drained the Palestinian Authority’s financial resources, exacerbating the crisis. “We are facing a devastating mass displacement crisis,” Kmeil stated, urging for the immediate provision of food, bedding, and essential supplies through the Committee for Dignity and Relief.

In conclusion, Kmeil appealed for both material and financial donations to support the displaced population in Tulkarem, emphasizing the need for immediate humanitarian intervention to mitigate the effects of this ongoing aggression on Palestinians in the governorate of Tulkarem.
