Hebron: Three Palestinian women, including a minor, were killed and 13 others injured after missile fragments fell on the town of Beit ‘Awwa, southwest of Hebron.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported handling the fatalities and transferring the bodies to the hospital. The PRCS, in coordination with Dura Municipality ambulance crews, dealt with 13 injured females, two of whom are in critical condition, while others sustained moderate to minor injuries. All injured parties were taken to Dura Governmental Hospital and hospitals in Hebron.
WAFA’s correspondent, citing local and medical sources, identified the deceased women as Mais Ghazi Masalmeh, 17, Sahira Rizq Masalmeh, 50, and Amal Sobhi Abdel Karim Matawa’ Masalmeh, 36. Local sources reported that the fragments fell on a women’s salon, causing injuries, including some critically.
The Palestine Civil Defense confirmed that a metal caravan used as a salon was hit, resulting in fatalities and injuries among the women inside. Additional rocket fragments landed in various locations across the Hebron governorate, including the city of Hebron and the town of Deir Sammit.
The emergency response media committee announced that Civil Defense teams, police explosives engineering department, and medical crews, in coordination with relevant authorities, managed the site and monitored the incident. Citizens were advised to urgently take shelter, avoid risky areas, and adhere to safety instructions.
Since the outbreak of the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran on February 28, falling rocket and projectile fragments have caused injuries and property damage. The Police explosives engineering department had previously warned against approaching rocket fragments to ensure safety.
The department emphasized the importance of following safety instructions, avoiding suspicious objects, and reporting incidents to authorities. The police confirmed ongoing operations to handle hazardous objects, urging public adherence to safety measures to protect lives and property.
