Tulkarm: Spanish Consul-General Jos© Javier Guti©rrez Blanco-Navarrete on Wednesday inspected first-hand the destruction wrought by Israeli occupation forces on the occupied West Bank governorate of Tulkarm. Spain's Consul-General to Jerusalem Blanco-Navarrete made his way to Tulkarm to assess the situation, particularly in the Nur Shams and Tulkarm refugee camps, amid ongoing Israeli military aggression.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Blanco-Navarrete received a presentation detailing the current conditions, with particular attention to closure, military checkpoints, colonists' attacks, the systematic destruction of civilian infrastructure, large-scale house demolitions, and the forced displacement of over 40,000 Palestinians.
Deputy Governor, Faisal Salameh, briefed the Spanish diplomat on the economic impact of the Israeli aggression for Palestinians. He highlighted the rising unemployment rates due to job losses in the 1948 Territories, halted issuance of entry permits for workers, economic stagnation, and the inaccessibility of markets and businesses in the governorate to Palestinian citizens of the 1948 Territories.
The Spanish Consul-General stated that his visit was part of a framework of partnership and cooperation. He emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration and consultation with the Palestinian side and praised Spanish-Palestinian relations.
