Gaza: Israeli bombardment on Wednesday resulted in the deaths of several Palestinians and injuries to others across the Gaza Strip.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the attacks targeted multiple locations, causing significant casualties and destruction.
The correspondent reported that an Israeli airstrike hit a tent sheltering displaced people at Al-Amal Camp in Jabalia, located in the northern Strip. This attack claimed the lives of two civilians and left several others injured. In a separate incident, Israeli fighter jets conducted an airstrike near Badr Mosque in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood of Gaza, leading to one fatality and several injuries.
Additionally, the vicinity of the Abu Nuweira school in Abasan al-Jadida town, east of Gaza city, was targeted by Israeli bombing. This resulted in one death and injuries to others. This escalation follows Israel's unilateral decision to end the Gaza ceasefire agreement and resume its airstrikes on the Strip on Tuesday, March 18. These actions have led to a wave of violence, with hundreds of Palestinians, including over 100 children, losing their lives.
Medical sources report that the death toll has reached at least 2,799, with 7,805 others wounded. In the past 24 hours alone, hospitals in the Strip have admitted the bodies of 20 slain Palestinians, including one recovered from rubble, and 125 casualties. The renewed aggression has raised concerns about the worsening humanitarian situation in the Strip, exacerbated by the ongoing siege and restrictions on the entry of medical and humanitarian aid.
The military campaign, ongoing since October 2023, has resulted in the deaths of 52,928 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, and injuries to 119,846 others. Furthermore, at least 10,000 individuals remain unaccounted for, believed to be trapped under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.
The Israeli offensive has also led to the forced displacement of nearly two million people from across the Gaza Strip. Most of the displaced have been pushed into the densely populated southern city of Rafah, near the Egyptian border, marking the largest mass exodus of Palestinians since the 1948 Nakba.
