Ramallah: President Mahmoud Abbas issued a law-by-decree on Monday merging the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (MoPIC) into a single entity, now to be known as the Ministry of Finance and Planning. This move signifies a structural change in the governmental framework, aimed at streamlining operations within these crucial sectors.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, President Abbas has also amended the composition of the nineteenth government through a presidential decree. This amendment reflects ongoing efforts to optimize the governance system.
In a further development, President Abbas demonstrated his confidence in Estephan Salameh by appointing him as the Minister of Finance and Planning through another law-by-decree. Salameh's swearing-in is scheduled to take place at a later date, which is yet to be determined.
