Gaza City: The Ministry of Education reports that a devastating impact on Palestinian students has been observed since the onset of Israeli aggression on October 7, 2023. A total of 11,923 students have lost their lives, and 19,199 have been injured in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Ministry of Education specified that in the Gaza Strip alone, more than 11,808 students were killed, and 18,596 were injured. In the West Bank, 115 students were killed, and 603 others suffered injuries. Furthermore, the toll on educators is severe, with 561 teachers and administrators killed, 3,729 injured, and over 148 detained in the West Bank. Educational infrastructure has also been heavily affected. The Ministry highlighted that 341 government schools, universities, and their buildings, along with 65 affiliated with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), have been bombed and vandalized in the Gaza Strip. Among these, 138 h ave been severely damaged, and 77 have been completely destroyed. The ongoing conflict has deprived 788,000 students in the Gaza Strip of attending their educational institutions since the aggression began. Many students are facing psychological trauma and challenging health conditions due to the ongoing situation. Additionally, repeated occupation raids on the Jenin and Tulkarm governorates have instilled fear among students attending their schools.
