OCHA Reports Over 170 Palestinian Children Killed in Recent Gaza Conflict

Gaza: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) revealed that over 170 children were killed during the Israeli occupation’s aggression on the Gaza Strip early Tuesday morning.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the office stated on its official website that the total number of civilian casualties from these raids has exceeded 400, including more than 170 children and 80 women. Rescue efforts have been hindered due to a lack of equipment, fuel, and heavy machinery.

The situation is further exacerbated by the operational status of medical facilities. Only four field hospitals are fully functional, while 22 hospitals and six field hospitals are operating partially. Thirteen hospitals and four field hospitals have completely ceased operations due to destruction and a shortage of medical personnel and supplies. Mohammed Abu Salmiya, director of Al-Shifa Hospital, described the situation as catastrophic, citing numerous victims.

OCHA has raised concerns about severe food shortages facing over one million people in the Gaza Strip if humanitarian aid does not resume. The organization warned that food rations for March might not be delivered if the current situation persists. Stocks in the Strip are rapidly depleting, leading UN partners to reduce food assistance, suspend flour and fresh food distribution, and cut down the amount of hot meals in public kitchens.

Moreover, OCHA cautioned that if the current conditions continue, at least 80 out of the 170 public kitchens in the Strip might be forced to shut down within a week or two.
