JERUSALEM: Eight members of the Israeli Knesset have urged Defense Minister Yisrael Katz to target and destroy key infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, including water, food, and energy resources, amid ongoing military operations in the region.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the Knesset’s Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee members addressed their concerns in a letter to Katz, criticizing the current military strategies for failing to meet the political objectives of the ongoing conflict. They highlighted that despite the military’s intensified efforts, particularly in northern Gaza, the displacement strategy for residents has been inadequately executed.
The Knesset members proposed a reassessment of the military approach, suggesting that after isolating northern Gaza and relocating its population, the military should focus on dismantling all essential resource infrastructures. They further advocated for the elimination of any individuals in northern Gaza who do not surrender, as indicated by waving a white flag.
The letter also recommended expanding these measures beyond northern Gaza to other regions, arguing for a broader application of the proposed tactics.
