Israeli Tax Authorities Conduct Raids in Silwan, Intensifying Local Tensions

Silwan: Israeli tax authorities, accompanied by Israeli forces, conducted raids on several commercial establishments on Monday in the Wadi Qaddum neighborhood of Silwan, south of Al-Aqsa Mosque, according to local sources.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, tax officials raided multiple shops in the area, inspecting premises and scrutinizing business documents under heavy protection from Israeli forces deployed throughout the neighborhood. The presence of Israeli forces provided security for the tax authorities as they carried out detailed inspections of the business premises.

The sources added that the operation heightened tensions in Wadi Qaddum, amid ongoing restrictive measures targeting merchants and shop owners in Silwan. The raids have contributed to an already strained atmosphere in the neighborhood, with many locals expressing concern over the increased scrutiny and pressure on their commercial activities.
