Israeli Forces Detain Palestinians in Tulkarm Raid

Tulkarm: Israeli forces on Tuesday evening detained several Palestinians from Kafr al-Labad, a town east of Tulkarm in the occupied West Bank, eyewitnesses reported. A convoy of Israeli military vehicles entered the town, with heavily-armed soldiers conducting searches in several homes and stores, resulting in significant damage and theft of cash.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency, during the raid, soldiers detained at least five individuals, including a couple, to pressure their son into surrendering to authorities. Such raids are a frequent occurrence, as occupation forces often enter Palestinian homes across the West Bank without warrants, citing the search for 'wanted' individuals and causing clashes with residents.

These operations are conducted under Israeli military law, which grants army commanders extensive authority over the 3 million Palestinians in the West Bank, leaving Palestinians without input on the exercise of this power. Data from Addameer, the Palestinian Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, indicates there are currently 9,400 Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli facilities, including 360 children and 87 women.

The statistics also reveal that 3,376 Palestinians are held under 'administrative detention', a process allowing imprisonment without charge or trial for periods of three to six months, based on secret evidence inaccessible to the detainee or their lawyer.
