Jerusalem: Israeli occupation forces raided the towns of al-Issawiya and Silwan in Jerusalem on Monday evening, according to local sources.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Israeli forces stormed al-Issawiya, where they searched a commercial shop and vandalized its contents. No detentions were reported during the raid. In Silwan, the forces targeted the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood, coinciding with a sit-in by residents protesting the seizure of their homes. Similar to al-Issawiya, no detentions were reported.
The Jerusalem Governorate reported that earlier in the day, the occupation authorities served several citizens from the Rajabi and Basbous families in Batn al-Hawa with notices from the so-called 'Execution and Enforcement Department.' This step is seen as a dangerous escalation, paving the way for forced eviction orders. The process typically grants families a limited period-often not exceeding 21 days-to execute the forced eviction.
The Governorate further explained that the notices targeted around 33 homes in the neighborhood, affecting approximately 220 citizens. Among those targeted is the home of Yousef al-Basbous, whose case has not yet been adjudicated by the occupation's Supreme Court.
