Israeli Forces Arrest Six Palestinians in West Bank

Jerusalem:Israeli forces detained six Palestinians from the West Bank governorates of Jerusalem and Tubas on Friday evening.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency, the Jerusalem Governorate reported that two Palestinians were apprehended in al-'Eizariya town, southeast of Jerusalem. Additionally, soldiers at the Jaba' checkpoint, north of Jerusalem, detained two more individuals.

In another incident, two Palestinians were detained after being summoned for interrogation at the Salem military camp. The director of the Palestine Prisoner's Society Office in Tubas identified the detainees as residents of the Far'a refugee camp and Tubas City.

Israeli forces frequently conduct raids on Palestinian homes across the West Bank, often resulting in clashes with residents. These raids are carried out without search warrants under the pretext of searching for 'wanted' Palestinians. Israeli military law grants army commanders extensive authority over the 3 million Palestinians living in the West Bank, leaving the local population without a say in the exercise of this power.

According to Addameer, the Palestinian Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, there are currently 9,350 Palestinian political prisoners in Israeli detention, including 350 children and 90 women. This includes approximately 3,176 Palestinians held under 'administrative detention', a process that permits detention without charge or trial for periods of three to six months based on secret evidence not accessible to the detainees or their lawyers.
