Jericho: Israeli colonists on Sunday forced 33 Palestinian families to leave the Bedouin community of Shallal Al-Auja north of Jericho, bringing the total number of families forcibly displaced from the community to 79.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, Al-Baydar Human Rights Organization reported that persistent harassment and attacks by the colonists led to the families' displacement. The families forced to leave today included 20 from the Rashaydeh tribe and 13 from the Ghawanmeh tribe.
The organization highlighted that this latest displacement follows the forced departure of 20 farming families from the area last Saturday and 26 others last Thursday, due to repeated attacks over recent weeks.
Al-Baydar emphasized that harassment by colonists involved grazing livestock on farmlands, damaging fruit trees and crops, and provoking residents. These actions are part of a systematic policy aimed at pressuring Bedouin communities and asserting control over their lands.
The organization noted that these incidents represent a deliberate targeting of Bedouin communities in the Jordan Valley. The goal is to create uninhabitable conditions and impose a coercive colonial reality, leading to economic and social crises that threaten residents' safety.
Al-Baydar called on the international community, human rights organizations, and media to take urgent action to protect Bedouin communities and prevent further displacement and attacks on Palestinian lands and property.
