Jenin: An Israeli airstrike targeted a Palestinian vehicle this morning in the village of Sir, located southeast of Jenin in the occupied West Bank, amid reports of casualties in the aftermath, which are yet to be confirmed, according to local and medical sources.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, a WAFA correspondent reported that an Israeli military drone struck the vehicle in Sir, with reports indicating that several young men were inside at the time of the attack. Thick smoke was observed rising from the site of the bombing, creating a scene of destruction in the normally quiet village.
Following the airstrike, Israeli occupation forces, supported by military vehicles, stormed the area and imposed a cordon around the site of the attack. The intervention by Israeli troops has made it difficult for local agencies to ascertain the full impact and number of casualties resulting from the strike.
Mahmoud al-Saadi, the director of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in Jenin, confirm
ed that his teams received reports about the bombing but were prevented from approaching the targeted vehicle by Israeli troops stationed in the area. The restriction has raised concerns about the ability of emergency services to provide timely assistance to potential victims in the aftermath of the attack.
