Israeli Airstrike on Northern Gaza Strip Results in 16 Fatalities

Gaza City: An Israeli airstrike on the town of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip on Wednesday evening resulted in the deaths of at least 16 Palestinians, with others sustaining injuries. The attack targeted mourners who were gathered to offer condolences for the killing of the Mubarak family in the Salatin area. The injured, many of whom are in serious condition, were transported to the Indonesian Hospital.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, an earlier airstrike conducted by an Israeli combat drone targeted a tent in Asdaa City, leading to the deaths of four civilians, including a young child, two-and-a-half-year-old Omar Qassem Talab Abu Sharqiyya. The renewed aggression follows Israel’s unilateral decision to end the Gaza ceasefire agreement on Tuesday, March 18, sparking a wave of airstrikes across the Strip.

The ongoing conflict has resulted in a significant loss of life, with the death toll reaching 436 and 678 others injured, as medical sources report. Emergency teams are working tirelessly to recover those still trapped beneath the rubble. The humanitarian situation in Gaza is deteriorating rapidly due to the continued siege and restrictions on the entry of medical and humanitarian aid.

Since October 2023, Israel’s military actions in Gaza have claimed over 49,547 Palestinian lives, predominantly women and children, and left 112,719 others injured. Additionally, at least 10,000 individuals remain unaccounted for, believed to be buried under the debris of their homes. The conflict has led to the displacement of nearly two million people, forcing them into the overcrowded southern city of Rafah near the Egyptian border, marking the most significant mass displacement since the 1948 Nakba.
