Israeli Aggression in Qalandia Camp Highlights Targeting of Palestinian Refugee Issues

Jerusalem governorate: The attack on Qalandia camp targets Palestinian camps and the refugee issue. The Jerusalem Governorate stated that the Israeli occupation's aggression against Qalandia camp, north of occupied Jerusalem, comes within the framework of a systematic policy targeting Palestinian camps and the refugee issue, coinciding with steps aimed at undermining the role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, the governorate added in a statement on Thursday that the situation in Qalandia camp is accompanied by an accelerated colonial escalation in the area and attempts to impose new realities on the ground. This includes efforts to open settlement road (45) and connect it to the tunnel under Jerusalem International Airport, a move that could lead to the fragmentation of Palestinian territory and the isolation of Jerusalem from its surroundings in the central West Bank.

Authorities warned that these measures aim to create the necessary environment for passing major settlement projects, altering the demographic and geographic character of the region, and separating Jerusalem from its Palestinian extension to the north.

The Jerusalem Governorate has called for urgent international action to halt Israeli violations and protect Palestinian camps and the refugee issue, which they consider an essential part of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people.
