Heavy Rains Worsen Conditions for Displaced Palestinians in Gaza

Gaza:Heavy rains have flooded thousands of tents sheltering displaced Palestinians across the Gaza Strip, exacerbating the already dire humanitarian situation. The severe weather conditions have led to injuries and further complications for those living in makeshift accommodations.

According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, the rainfall has particularly affected tents in low-lying areas, where water has inundated shelters and damaged the belongings of displaced families. Additionally, two Palestinians were injured when a wall of a building, previously damaged by Israeli bombardment, collapsed in northern Gaza due to the heavy rains.

The situation is dire for the estimated 270,000 tents across the Gaza Strip, where more than 400,000 displaced people are living in vulnerable conditions. These makeshift shelters offer little protection against the rain, wind, and cold, leaving families exposed to the elements. The lack of resources, including fuel and heating supplies, has compounded the suffering, as families struggle to care for children and the elderly.

As storms continue to impact the region, the need for adequate shelter, heating equipment, and emergency supplies becomes increasingly urgent. Displaced families face the constant threat of cold weather, flooding, and the potential collapse of already weakened structures.
