Paris: International reactions condemning US President Donald Trump’s statements on controlling the Gaza Strip and displacing Palestinians outside their homeland continued.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese reiterated his country’s support for the two-state solution in the Middle East and its firm position on the Palestinian issue. Meanwhile, the New Zealand Foreign Ministry reiterated its support for the two-state solution, noting that “it will not comment on every proposal that is put forward.”
The French Foreign Ministry considered the forced displacement of Gaza residents a serious violation of international law, an attack on the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinians, and a destabilizing factor in the region. It added that “the future of Gaza must be within the framework of the future Palestinian state and under the supervision of the Palestinian Authority, stressing that her country will continue to oppose settlements that viola
te international law and any desire to unilaterally annex the West Bank.”
In addition to that, the British Foreign Secretary Lamy said: “We want to see Palestinians flourish in Gaza and the West Bank, stressing the need to ensure a future for the Palestinians in their homeland.”
Moreover, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that Beijing opposes calls to seize the Gaza Strip and displace Palestinians outside their homeland. China responded to Trump’s statements, through Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Siyin, saying: China opposes making Palestinians in Gaza a target for forced displacement, and opposes calls to seize the Gaza Strip and displace Palestinians outside their homeland.
Scottish Prime Minister John Swinney said: “After months of collective punishment and the deaths of more than 40,000 in Gaza, any proposal to remove Palestinians from their homeland is unacceptable and dangerous.” “There should be no ethnic cleansing in Gaza, and the two-state solution is the only appropriate solution to achi
eve lasting peace,” he said.
The Spanish Foreign Minister expressed his country’s rejection of Trump’s proposal to resettle Palestinians elsewhere and control Gaza to create a “Middle East Riviera.” Simultaneously, the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, “Russia believes that a settlement in the Middle East is possible only on the basis of a two-state solution,” stressing his country’s position that the only way to resolve the conflict in the Middle East is to create a Palestinian state alongside the State of Israel. He added that “Trump’s idea of ??resettlement was rejected by major Arab capitals.”
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said, “Trump’s statements about a plan to take control of the war-torn Gaza Strip are ‘unacceptable.'” He added that any plans that leave the Palestinians “out of the equation” will lead to further conflict.
