Fatah Central Committee Addresses Political and Security Developments Amidst Upcoming Elections

Ramallah: The Central Committee of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) convened under the leadership of Deputy Chairman Hussein al-Sheikh to deliberate on pressing political and security matters. The discussions were centered around Israel's continued aggression against the Palestinian population, particularly in the Gaza Strip, as well as ongoing settler violence and the displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the meeting also focused on preparations for the forthcoming elections. In a statement, the Central Committee emphasized the necessity for heightened national and organizational responsibility in the current phase, underscoring the importance of unity within Fatah. The committee called for the consolidation of efforts and resources to address the political and field challenges confronting the Palestinian cause, aligning them with the broader national interests of the Palestinian people.

The committee highlighted the importance of ongoing dialogue with Palestinian national forces and factions to bolster national unity. It underscored the need for political and diplomatic efforts at all levels to halt Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and address violations and settler attacks in the West Bank. Furthermore, the committee affirmed its commitment to confronting policies of displacement, settlement expansion, and land seizure, while reiterating the resilience of the Palestinian people in upholding their land and legitimate rights.

Internal organizational matters were also discussed, with the committee adopting decisions and recommendations, including the election of Tayseer al-Bardini as the deputy secretary of the Central Committee. The committee affirmed its commitment to ongoing meetings and close monitoring of political, security, and organizational developments, aiming to serve the Palestinian national project and maintain Fatah's unity and role in the national struggle.

The Central Committee also deliberated on organizational preparations for the upcoming elections. It discussed ways to enhance readiness across Fatah's organizational structures and mobilize its cadres and supporters to ensure effective participation in the electoral process, reflecting Fatah's presence and historic role in Palestinian national and political life.
