Abu dhabi: Eight Arab and Islamic countries, including the UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Trkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, have collectively condemned Israel's rejection of the Road Map for US President Trump's Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict and the establishment of a Palestinian state. The Foreign Ministers of these nations stated that Israel's position undermines efforts to achieve peace in Gaza and the broader Occupied Palestinian Territory.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency - WAFA, the Road Map, endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803, has been accepted by Palestinian factions and marks a significant milestone for peace efforts. It involves the withdrawal of Israeli forces, the deployment of an International Stabilization Force, and the transfer of administrative authority to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza. The rejection by Israel is seen as a refusal to proceed with the Comprehensive Plan, threatening to derail efforts aimed at establishing lasting peace.
The ministers emphasized the critical role of sustained US engagement in ensuring Israel's compliance with the Comprehensive Plan. They stressed that Israel is fully responsible for any consequences arising from its rejection, which could lead to further deterioration on the ground. The ministers also reiterated the need for the full implementation of the Comprehensive Plan to address humanitarian issues and promote security and stability in Gaza.
Furthermore, the ministers reaffirmed the importance of a two-state solution, advocating for an independent Palestinian State based on the 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital. They rejected any unilateral actions that could undermine Palestinian statehood and called for continued support for the Board of Peace in advancing the Comprehensive Plan and its Road Map.
The joint statement underscores the importance of international collaboration, particularly with the United States, to uphold the integrity of the Comprehensive Plan and prevent any obstruction to its implementation.
