Ramallah:Amnesty International has called on the international community to impose sanctions on Israeli officials involved in violations of international law and to take urgent measures to stop the increasing attacks by settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. These attacks coincide with the start of the olive harvest season.
According to Palestine news and Information Agency, Amnesty International reported that settlers have been attacking Palestinian farmers, destroying and stealing crops, while the Israeli military imposes restrictions on Palestinian access to their own land. This situation is causing severe humanitarian suffering and significant economic losses.
Amnesty highlighted recent assaults in the towns of Khirbet Abu Falah and al-Taybeh, east of Ramallah, which affected a photojournalist from *The Washington Post* and a delegation of European diplomats. The organization has urged nations to halt all forms of trade, investment, and cooperation that support the illegal Israeli occupation and to take steps to avoid being complicit in the violations against Palestinians.
Furthermore, Amnesty International has called for targeted sanctions against Israeli officials with credible evidence of involvement in serious violations of international law. It emphasized the need for international justice and accountability, stressing that mere statements of condemnation and political rhetoric allow violations to continue. The organization insisted on the necessity for states to fulfill their legal responsibilities to protect Palestinians and to end settler violence and colonial expansion.
