Ramallah:The Central Elections Commission stated that an amendment to the General Elections Law by President Mahmoud Abbas has extended the nomination period for the 2026 legislative elections from 12 to 18 days, running from September 26 to October 13.
According to According to Palestine news and Information Agency,, the Commission will adjust the electoral process timetable to align with this amendment. This includes ensuring that all stages and procedures are completed in accordance with the new legal deadlines.
Importantly, the amendment will not impact the date set for the general election, which remains on Saturday, November 28. The Commission will continue with preparations for the elections as planned.
The CEC has also indicated that it will announce the revised electoral timetable, including new dates for the nomination stage and other subsequent stages, once the necessary legal and technical preparations are finalized.
