Ramallah - Ma'an - Minister of Labor Dr. warned. Nasri Abu Jaish urged employers in establishments operating in the West Bank to dismiss workers from their workplaces, under the pretext of restructuring the establishments’ conditions as a result of the damage caused to the labor sector as a result of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, stressing the ministry’s rejection of these measures, considering them illegal.
This warning comes based on the receipt of a number of labor complaints about the dismissal of some workers from their workplaces since the start of the war on Gaza.
Abu Jaish confirmed that the Ministry will take the necessary measures if the war lasts, and there is no justification for dismissing workers from their workplaces, noting that the negative effects of the war on the Palestinian economy will be studied and measures will be taken that will protect the worker and the employer, through agreements with production parties to be concluded. In which the worker’s salary percentage is determined according to the data of the unemployment period, similar to the agreements concluded during the Corona pandemic, which would preserve the rights of workers and employers, and continue the wheel of the economy.
