Jerusalem Together - MP Iman Khatib Yassin from the United Arab List made statements that caused an uproar in Israel, in which she said that Hamas did not commit massacres against children and women when they stormed the settlements, as Israel claims.
Yassin's statements came in an interview with the Knesset Channel. Her statements received angry reactions in Israel, prompting the head of the United Arab List to demand her resignation.
Yassin said: “They did not slaughter the children, at least from what was shown in the film, and they did not rape the women.” When she was asked if she had seen the film that was shown to Knesset representatives, she replied, “I could not watch it. I heard from the first hand.”
Israeli media sources reported that following these statements, the head of the Unified List, Mansour Abbas, spoke with Yassin, expressing his anger at his statements and demanding her resignation.
The uproar caused by Yassin's statements led to her announcing an apology for her statements. Yassin said: “I made a mistake. I regret and apologize.
