OIC Chief Condemns Israeli Actions in Hebron, Calls for International Intervention

Hebron:Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed has publicly condemned the large-scale Israeli assault on Hebron, which has resulted in the forced displacement of 1,500 Palestinians. He described the actions as a dangerous escalation and part of a broader policy of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement by Israeli forces and colonists.

According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, the secretary-general expressed concerns over the colonial schemes aimed at changing the demographic and geographic character of Hebron and its surroundings. He emphasized that systematic demolitions and mass displacement are blatant violations of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions.

Additionally, Ould Cheikh Ahmed criticized the ongoing Israeli violations against religious sites in Hebron. This includes the continued closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque and the restriction of worshippers' access, which he described as an attack on freedom of worship and the sanctity of holy places.

He held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the consequences of these actions and renewed his urgent call for the international community and the UN Security Council to take immediate action. He urged them to halt the assault on Hebron, prevent further displacement, hold the occupation accountable, and provide urgent international protection for the Palestinian people.
