Gaza:Medical sources in Gaza have issued a warning regarding the imminent shortage of oil necessary for hospital generators, which threatens to disrupt electricity supplies to critical departments providing life-saving care.
According to Palestine news & Information Agency – WAFA – English, the dwindling oil supplies also pose a risk of accelerating mechanical wear and tear on generators. These generators are already operating under challenging technical and engineering conditions, facing prolonged operating hours and continuous maintenance requirements.
Hospitals in Gaza require more than 2,500 liters of generator oil each month. The emergency supplies currently available in limited quantities are insufficient to keep the generators running for any sustained period, particularly as continuous operation increases oil consumption.
The medical sources have called for urgent intervention to ensure the entry of the necessary oils and spare parts. This intervention is deemed crucial to maintain the uninterrupted operation of hospital generators and prevent power outages in departments providing life-saving medical services.
