Israel Issues Tenders for New Housing Units in Jerusalem Settlements

Jerusalem:The Israeli authorities have issued two tenders for the construction of 1,080 housing units in Jerusalem and its eastern periphery this October. These units are part of new colonial housing projects.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the Commission Against the Wall and Settlements stated the tenders include 730 units in the "Pisgat Ze'ev" settlement and 350 units for elderly residents in the "Tzipor Midbar" neighborhood of the "Ma'ale Adumim" settlement.

The first tender, No. 212/2026, published on October 13, involves constructing 730 units in the "Dukhifat" complex on the eastern edge of the "Pisgat Ze'ev" settlement. This project, identified as plan No. 101-0759894, spans approximately 27.529 dunums and includes units for sale and long-term lease, as well as commercial and service-related spaces. Bids can be submitted starting November 16, with a deadline of December 28.

The second tender, No. 207/2026, published on October 7, includes 350 units in a residential project for the elderly, along with commercial facilities, in the "Ma'ale Adumim" settlement under plan No. 420/1/7/59/2. This project was previously offered under Tender No. 14/2026 but received no bids, prompting re-tendering. Tender documents will be available on November 30, with a submission deadline of December 30.

The Commission highlighted that these projects aim to expand the settlements' capacity to accommodate settlers of various age groups, integrating residential, commercial, and service facilities. This expansion is seen as an effort to transform colonial plans into permanent urban realities, consolidating control over Jerusalem and its surroundings while limiting space for Palestinian expansion.
