UN Highlights Israeli Military Activity and Humanitarian Challenges in Gaza

Gaza:The United Nations has reported multiple Israeli airstrikes, alongside shelling, demolition-related explosions, and gunfire from Israeli naval forces and ground troops across all areas of the Gaza Strip on Tuesday and Wednesday. UN Deputy Spokesperson for the Secretary-General Farhan Haq emphasized the urgent need to protect civilians and infrastructure, while noting ongoing efforts to deliver essential supplies to the region.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency – WAFA, the UN managed to deliver additional quantities of fuel, protective plastic sheeting, winter clothing, medicines, and medical supplies. However, Haq highlighted that these deliveries are far from sufficient to meet the vast needs of Gaza's population. Humanitarian partners face severe delivery constraints due to funding shortfalls and Israeli restrictions, which include operational bans on certain partners, import limitations, and access denials affecting more than 64 percent of the area.

In the West Bank, the UN Human Rights Office has reported that Israeli forces raided Palestinian civil society organizations and a medical compound in Ramallah on Tuesday, confiscating files and equipment and detaining Palestinian citizens. UN partners have urged Israeli authorities to lift restrictions on Palestinian civic space, warning that such raids and detentions of human rights defenders and protection workers severely hinder their humanitarian efforts.
