US Senator Criticizes US Embassy in Israel Over Information Withholding

Accra:US Senator Chris Van Hollen has accused the US Embassy in Israel of withholding information regarding the deaths of American citizens in the occupied West Bank.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency, Van Hollen expressed his concerns on the social media platform X, alleging that the embassy was concealing details related to these incidents. He also accused US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee and his representative of covering up this information to protect Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government.

Van Hollen has urged the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee to investigate what he described as an attempted cover-up. He emphasized the importance of standing up for American citizens who have been killed, stating that failure to do so undermines the ability to advocate for any victims of unjust killings worldwide.

On September 30, the US Senate rejected a resolution that sought to compel the Trump administration to prepare a report for Congress on increasing Israeli human rights violations in the occupied West Bank. The proposed resolution called for the US Department of State to document human rights abuses, including the detention of Palestinian children and the deaths of American citizens.
