PM Mustafa Outlines Key Priorities for Gaza Reconstruction and Economic Revival

Hebron:Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa emphasized the ongoing impact of Israeli military actions, noting that the declared 'decisive battle' by Israeli leaders continues to affect Palestinians daily. He highlighted the significant loss of life, with over 74,000 Palestinians killed, and the extensive destruction in the Gaza Strip, requiring an estimated $73 billion for reconstruction.

According to Palestine News and Information Agency, Mustafa addressed these issues during his speech at the opening of the Palestine Construction Industries Exhibition in Hebron. The event was attended by various officials, including the governor and ministers, as well as community leaders. He stated that the Israeli war had heavily impacted the Palestinian economy, reducing it by about 30% to levels seen 15 years ago. Unemployment has also surged to approximately 50%.

He also discussed the financial challenges posed by Israel's withholding of over 20 billion shekels in Palestinian tax revenues for 18 months, which has impeded the government's capacity to deliver essential services. Despite these challenges, Mustafa praised the resilience of the Palestinian people, attributing it to the collective determination of society and leadership.

Mustafa outlined a strategic plan for rebuilding the Palestinian national economy, emphasizing the role of the private sector, government support, and international partnerships. He stressed the importance of not only addressing immediate needs but also preparing for future reconstruction efforts.

He identified five main priorities for the upcoming phase. These include protecting the land and enhancing resilience, rebuilding the Gaza Strip and achieving unity, revamping the national economy with a focus on self-reliance and digital transformation, completing government reforms to boost public confidence, and leveraging political achievements for concrete progress toward statehood.

Mustafa concluded by asserting that these priorities are essential for moving beyond the current challenges and advancing toward Palestinian freedom and independence, urging a focus on long-term economic revitalization and national unity.
