Abu Dis:Around 55 olive trees, each over 40 years old, were set ablaze by Israeli colonists on land belonging to Palestinian citizen Ibrahim Abu Helal in the Wadi Abu Dis area, southeast of Jerusalem. The incident took place while Abu Helal was harvesting olives with his family on their 14-dunam plot.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency, the colonists, originating from a nearby outpost, attacked Abu Helal's family, forcing them to retreat for safety. Upon returning to their land, the family found that the colonists had set fire to the olive trees, as well as to their harvesting tools and the olives they had collected.
Previously, on August 27, Israeli authorities had declared 370.28 dunams of land in Abu Dis and Arab al-Sawahra as 'state property' to facilitate the establishment of the Mishmar Yehuda colony. This latest incident is part of a broader increase in colonist attacks targeting Palestinian farmers and their agricultural lands throughout the West Bank, including Jerusalem, particularly during the olive harvest season.
