Gaza:United Nations: Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa emphasized the urgent need to transform political frameworks and international commitments into tangible improvements for the people of the Gaza Strip. During a high-level roundtable at the United Nations General Assembly, he highlighted the importance of moving from humanitarian relief to early recovery to alleviate suffering, restore essential services, revive the economy, and reunify the homeland.
According to Palestine News and Information Agency €œ WAFA, Mustafa underscored the necessity of preserving the unity of Palestinian territory, including a cohesive political and legal system, and effective institutions serving Palestinians in both Gaza and the West Bank. He affirmed that humanitarian assistance remains crucial but stressed the need for early recovery and economic revival.
Mustafa reiterated the Palestinian Authority's commitment to engaging constructively with the Board of Peace and transitioning to Phase II. He highlighted the importance of strengthening coordination, clarifying responsibilities, and enhancing existing arrangements' effectiveness.
Despite a severe fiscal crisis, Mustafa noted that Palestinian institutions have continued to support Gaza's essential services. The Ministry of Social Development has provided humanitarian and social-protection assistance, while the Ministry of Public Works and Housing has managed debris removal and infrastructure rehabilitation. The Ministry of Education has also facilitated the resumption of education for children in Gaza.
The Prime Minister called for enhanced coordination among stakeholders to support Gaza's recovery effectively. He emphasized the need to connect and scale up existing initiatives rather than creating new mechanisms, stressing that visible improvements in daily life are essential. Mustafa concluded by affirming the Palestinian Government's readiness to continue providing services and advancing reforms, highlighting the necessity of coordination and implementation to restore normalcy and dignity in Gaza.
